Payment.com or Payments.com will bring you more Revenue?

The recent sale of two domain names, Payment.com and Payments.com, is something you got to watch carefully. Usually the plural terms rank better than singular terms. Take toys.com sold for 5.1 million while toy.com struggles to fetch even a 100K.

So why is that different with Payment?

Google Trend reports payment is more searched than payments.
Google keyword tool reports payment is searched over 9 million times globally while payments close to 3 million searches.

So these data will provide you with the real value of singular name or plural name.

Payment.com sold for US $250’000 while Payments.com fetched only US $150’000

PS: Here are some nice names listed at Domain Street

SexTV or sex will bring you more?

Both names are on auction until August 13th 2009. The reserve price for sex.co.uk is ½ million to a million and 50 k to 100 k for SexTV.com

According to the current bidding, this stands at 75 k for SexTV.com and 25500 for Sex.co.uk, the dot com rules as always.

We should remember that sex.com sold for around 7 million. Why so much less for a UK domain?

Generally speaking people think of .com as the default extension. This keeps the peak price for dot com. This is to change in the near future as statistics shows that many prefer ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain. Such as .de, .ch, .co.uk) compare to TLD (Top Level Domain such as .com, .org, .net).

In long term sex.co.uk will bring in more ROI than SexTV.com.

Note that Sex.tv will have a higher value than SexTV.com

Got some millions lying around and don’t know what to do? Why not place a bid on sex.co.uk or SexTV.com?

Trade Domain Name to Make money online

It’s been a while since my last update back in March. I was busy developing other sites such as CMSblog.co.uk and DomainStreet.Org

You know Wall Street for Finance, Main Street for Whole Sale and Domain Street for Domains. Fit nicely, right?
I’ll come to the point.

This make money online niche requires some investment. Say to begin US $500.00 (If you don’t have it skip to “blogging to make money online” or Affiliates programs using E-mails to promote.

The fact is, many people don’t know what is happening on Internet behind their monitor screens. Very recently Candy.com sold for US $3 million, just the domain name without any content. How many of you aware of this? There is a serious business going on with Domain names.

As you may be aware, finding genetic names like “Bottle.com” or “Rubber.com” in the primary market is not possible. But still there is room for creative people to play. Two words and three words domains are selling for a reasonable price.

If you know which names are good then you are in business. Registration fee at moniker for dot com is US $8.07. I recommend moniker if you are planning to become a Domainer. They provide prompt service and understand Domainers requirements.

Now, what or which are the good names to invest? This is a million dollar question. :0)

In general 2 letter domains are called premium. What that mean is if you have “xy.com” then they are valued at 5 figure price. But they are not available in the primary market anymore. The single word genetic domain names such as “dog.com”, “Trader.com” or “sex.com” are no more available in primary market either.

Using your creative mind to find 2 words domains or 3 short word domains and register them. Dot com is the King. If you can’t get hold of the .com then look for .net or .org.

Only .co.uk, .de, and .fr country codes trades well in the secondary market. So you can look in to them as well.
Anyway, you should plan to hold them for a long term, say 5 to 10 years. List your domains for sale after 2 years. You can do so at http://DomainStreet.Org or http://Sedo.com

Lets do some math here. .com registration fee for 10 years is US $81.00 can be sold for a minimum of US $2000.00 with in the 5 years. Net profit US $1919

You can list the domains immediately for sale. But this will result in a very low price. I bought LiquorShop.co.uk (US $13.94) and sold within 3 month for GBP 100. I could have held it longer. But I realized that the term used in UK is not Liquor Shop but Liquor Store, thus I let it go :0)

Now that’s what I call make money online.
