How many of you are into US domain Names?

Did you invest in .US domain Names? I did get some of the good names such as JetRentals.us

There are news circulating around the net which demotes .us name. Here is my piece of advise!

Don’t panic, Just hold them for at least another 5 years. The things are to turn upside down.

Definitely the .com rules, but there will be a polar shift towards ccTLDs.

I have written about this many times and here again I’ll let you know why?

If you are purchasing products or services on line, then my best bet is that you want to do so within your country and not from other side of the world. Why? So that you can easily claim warranty or further services. Thus you will feel secure to purchase within your territory. This trend will come, thus I advise you to hold on to your ccTLDs.

Buy and hold your Domain Names

Hi,

Its a long time I have updated this site. I was busy with other projects. what was it?

Ok, here I’ll tell you what is in my mind. If you have noticed, you Know I have moved to Sri Lanka couple of years back. heard of the civil war in Sri Lanka? Or LTTE?

Since the war ended on may 18th last year Government of Sri Lanka winning over the LTTE, I am on my way to Jaffna to educate the web technology. Jaffna was and is the central to the Tamil culture. Tamil are above average in Math sills. Thus I think they can master the art of coding.

So, What hold me back? The problems I face is the housing. Hey, I was shocked to hear that they are charging SLR 4000/= per night for just a room. That is ridicules. But, for them its time to earn some cash after 30 years in isolation.

Anyway, I have made some arrangement and people are looking for a housing for me.

So the last 8 weeks I was busy with that and in the mean time the Domain Name industry is reviving faster than I thought. If you followed the news, you would have heard the new record breaking news.

Poker.org sold for 1 million US. There are other great sales as well. But a ORG domain sold for the first time at this price. There are some nice flips too. 2 domain names registered in Nov 2009 and sold for over 100k US in march 2010.

So what are you waiting for? invest your $ 8 in a name and hope for good. Remember to read my other post on how to select a good domain name.

I also got an offer on BritishTalents.com + co.uk

I turned it down as I want 1.1 million US for them. This is the second time I received an offer for that name.

Make money online

Here I am back with some more make money online information on Domain Names and the web success.

it widely believed that the dot com is the best and one must always go for a dot com.  The reasoning for this paradox are as follows . . .

Search Engine ranks dot com higher – Is that true? Do some research by your self. Search something and see ob the .com of the keyword you searched rank first. Many times it is not the case. Search for “DomainStreet.com” and see what is ranking at top. As you can see for your self, it is the DomainStreet.org ranks first. What happened to .com?

Type in traffic – Yes this is true for now and not in the future. If you just type the keyword into the address bar of your browser (Firefox, ie) they revert to the keyword.com site if it exist. This traffic shouldn’t be considered as static since in the near future the same browsers will revert to the country code domains. Thus in the near future the Keyword.ccTLD will be the number one in search engines. Why?

What I have found is that the keyword domain names are good for SEO. One important aspect in SEO is the keyword in link. This can be archived by creating a category in CMS and using the permalink feature in CMS. Almost all the CMS provides this feature today. The ranking take note of the keyword placement in the link. A leading keyword has more weight than a tailing one.

Conclusion: You don’t need the dot com to rank higher. Known extensions such as net, org, info, co.uk and us are good for developing. Focus more on SEO to rank better. Posts related to how to SEO can be found within this site. Develop your site to make money online. Parking do not pay anymore!

Tips for Newbie Domainers: I think, the ccTLD will be more valuable in the future than gTLD. Genetic ccTLD is the one to invest.
