How important is the web statistics?

Have you ever wondered how important is your website statistic?

If you are maintaining a web site as hobby and not bothered to monetize it, then you probably don’t need to read this article.

Many people out there build a web site to monetize their traffic. At this point the web statistic becomes an important information.

Many times in the past I was confused with different statistic tools give different results. The counter on my site didn’t tally with those reports.

To have a statistic running on my web server is a luxury due to the space need to run the data base. Day by day it will grow to a level, where it can slow down the whole web server, especially if some one is on a shared hosting.

Many have integrated Google’s analytics. I personally do not prefer it as it sets cookie which expires after 2038. Thus some visited today will not be counted tomorrow or until 2039.

AddFreeStats is a free web statistic service I like recommend. It gives you far more detail than any other free web stats I have come across.

Implementing is easy as to copy the code and place it any where on your site. A small image appears on your site. There are options such as when to count a returning visitor as well as having the statistic information public or private.

At the end of each article there is something referred to as a “resource box.” In this box, there will be a short, 2-3 sentence sales pitch telling people why they should visit your website, with links leading directly to your company’s website. The goal

of the resource box is to entice the reader to visit your website. It is that easy.

Once a potential client is on your website, he or she can see exactly what your company has to offer. Chances are, they will use your services because they have already received free, useful advice from you through the article. In this way, you have actually proven you are knowledgeable instead of just saying it. This low-key approach tends to be more appreciated by customers than some in-your-face proclamation of greatness.

Is It Worth It?

Absolutely! For your money, you will never find a broader scope of advertising possibilities. Distribution networks are making it possible for these written articles to be seen by hundreds and thousands of potential customers. Who knows, maybe your company will be able to credit some of its success to distributing well-written articles online.

In order for article marketing to be as effective as possible, it is important that the printed articles have very few mistakes, if any at all. Misspelled words, run-on sentences and other writing errors are really noticeable on a computer screen. You want potential customers to focus on the content of the article, not the mistakes in grammar or syntax. Inevitably, this inattention to detail will only succeed in making your company appear not to care about small issues. A carefully written article shows that details matter to your company. In today’s customer service starved society, a little thing such as this can make all the difference in which company a customer will choose.

That said; if writing isn’t your strong point, don’t hesitate to hire a professional writer. As stated earlier, some online article distribution companies have writers on staff that can help you with this. Other writers do freelance work and can be found advertising their services online. The point is, once you decide to use online article marketing to promote your business, make sure the articles being written truly represent the image of your company that you want to get across.

Write Testimonials and increase traffic

If you buy a product or use a service, write a testimonial and submit it to the merchant. Every merchant out there needs testimonials and they are often very receptive to get one. It helps to make testimonials of products or services related to your site’s theme. For example if you have a pet website and write a testimonial about a specific pet product, anyone reading that testimonial is likely to visit your site to see what more words of wisdom you can offer.

A testimonial is usually a quoted statement that is not longer than a few sentences or a few very short paragraphs. A good testimonial will include how the product benefited you. Submitting something like “I loved your product” may not get any air time so be as specific as you can, but keep it short and to the point.
When writing a testimonial, be sure to include your website address under your signature and verify that the merchant will include it with your testimonial if published. Your testimonial does not need to have a live link, its better if it does, however your website should at least display below your name.

Note that the testimonial does not have to relate to your websites topic, if it does, perfect, but it doesn’t have to.

If you don’t have products that you can write a testimonial on, join a related ezine and submit a testimonial for that ezine. Ezine get read a lot and if your testimonial is posted on the front page you likely to get plenty of visitors.

How to get your Google AdSense account banned?

Sounds Nonsense? Ye! It was to me too until last Tuesday. But not any more!

I received an email from Google stating that my account is banned because there were invalid clicks. For a moment, I was shocked! Read the mail again, yes that’s what the e-mail stated. Another surprise is that there is no mention of where the invalid click come from or executed. Thus you have to believe blindly what is told to you!

I started to brain storm how this could have happened! I never asked anyone to click on ads on my site. But I did the marketing within my FaceBook, Digg, stumble, Reddit, etc. In my opinion there is nothing wrong about it.

Do you agree with me?

The other possibility is my shared Internet connection. I do share my ADSL connection with my neighbors through a wireless router. They got to know about my web site through FaceBook. I think they could have clicked some of the ads!

Since the IP would point back to the connection I am on, Google thought the clicks originated from me! Fine, but I explained the situation to Google in the only one appeal you can make!

One thing is clear. Getting AdSense account band is easier than writing this post.

I am yet to receive a reply to my appeal, if they opt to reply. Will follow up and post here!

Write a Press Release

If you’ve just created a website or product and you’re anxious to get some attention, submitting a press release is ideal.

A press release is a document written to appeal to a journalist and writing a press release is not like writing a sales page or an ad, in fact you don’t want it to resemble an ad at all. A journalist is looking to fill a news need. So the question you must ask yourself is why might XYZ magazine readers be interested in what I have?

Here’s how to write an effective press release.

Keep your press release to the point. Press releases are not meant to tell the whole story. They are meant to give the reporter an idea of what’s happening in your business that their readers need to know about.

• Your press release should be approximately 400 words – 500 maximum.
• It should be well-written – use good grammar, NO spelling errors, it must sound and flow logically and don’t make any unsubstantiated claims.
• Your press release should be focused on an event or something that you have done. For example, created a new website, web store or wrote a new book.
• The first release should state what you hope to achieve with your site or your business.
• Emphasize how you are different from other sites or businesses that are similar to yours, what’s unique about your service, product or business.
